Bernd Liske explored the impact of the Ukraine crisis on Germany in a 2015 letter to the editor of the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung (FAZ), and in a 2016 article for Deutsche Wirtschaftsnachrichten (DEUTSCHE WIRTSCHAFTSNACHRICHTEN), he examined the state of German society – also in the context of the Ukraine crisis. He concluded at the time with the hope that he would not one day have to say: Germany – I am horrified by you.

Fundamental article on information management

Modernization efforts in the economy are part of a comprehensive societal transformation process through which Germany is addressing the diverse challenges of the 21st century. Key characteristics of this process include the devaluation of traditional human labor caused by modern technologies and the inadequate development of intellectual and social human potential in its entirety, in line with technological advances. One of the great challenges of our time is to prevent this discrepancy from widening further.

Considering that since 1990 approximately €46 billion has been invested in research funding, that the economic output of the eastern German states still hovers around 70% of the western German level, and that the unemployment rate is roughly twice as high as in the western German states, it is astonishing how the reconstruction phase in the East can be considered complete, allowing the focus to shift to the future. With 500 million euros. But the coffers are increasingly empty, and the resulting distributional conflicts will only intensify and escalate...
